Prayer Power!

Prayer is dialogue with God, not a diatribe or a monologue. Unfortunately, we seldom reap the benefits of prayer or experience its power because we are not honest, sincere, or persistent in our prayers.

In the scripture below, James details the power that we have in coming before God, humbly in prayer. I say humbly because he emphasizes the fact that when we come together before God in prayer, even more power is available to us. It's a very humbling experience to come to your brother or sister in Christ, admit your faults to them and request their prayers. It is also very powerful!

James also points out that in order for our personal prayers to be effective, they must be accompanied by our righteousness. Being in right-standing with God merely means that you are living an obedient life and have dedicated yourself to Christ and becoming more like Him. Our prayer life is essential to doing both of those things, living obediently and developing Christlike character.

Let's stop underestimating the power of prayer and open up our lines of communication with God. This starts by opening up our lines of communication with each other. The enemy wants to destroy our prayer life, our only connection to Our Heavenly Father. We can't let that happen. We have to overcome our differences, humble ourselves, find forgiveness in each other, and come together so we can experience true prayer power!

"Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective."
