Time to Fight

Our country is in some tough times right now.  We are at war, banks and insurance companies are going bankrupt, unemployment is high, and our housing market has turned completely upside down.  With all of the uncertainty and misfortune, it is easy to find yourself in a corner with your head down, wondering what to do next.

The answer to that question is, 'get up and fight'.  This is not a time for us as Christians to sit and sulk, it's time for us to set the example.  It is often in the most desperate and discouraging times when you are faced with the most opportunity!

When the Children of Israel were about to enter the Promised Land, they had just lost their greatest leader, Moses.  Their parents had all passed away in the wilderness and they had a new leader, Joshua.  These were not the best of times.  God knew that they were at a place where they needed some encouragement, so He spoke to Joshua and reassured him that he was not alone.  God clearly told Joshua that He would never leave him, nor forsake him, especially in times of need.

God is telling you the same thing today.  There is a mission at hand, and despite the way things look around you, we must accomplish our mission.  It's time to fight for what you know has been promised to you.  This is a time of great opportunity because the one who can be strong during times of weakness will always prevail.  We can be strong because God is on our side!

"Today you are going into battle against your enemies. Do not be fainthearted or afraid; do not be terrified or give way to panic before them.  For the LORD your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory."

~ Deuteronomy 20:3-4
