Where Are You?

Right now our country is at a major turning point in history.  Some of the things we are experiencing are exciting, and others are very discouraging.  Here we stand at the brink of possibly electing the first African-American president or the first female vice-president, while at the same time, we face one of the toughest financial crisis since the Great Depression.

These events have caused a great number of us to look at ourselves in an effort to see if we have accomplished some of the many dreams we had envisioned for our own lives.  In order for us to be effective at this task of determining where we should be in life, we have to take into account where we've been as well as document where we hope to go.

Many of us at Chosen have taken the first steps toward realizing our dreams by laying out the vision for our lives. This exercise has helped us get on track by giving us some bearing on where we are in relation to where we want to be.  It's not that different from God asking Adam, "where are you?" in the garden of Eden.  This simple question helped Adam to see that he was no longer in God's will and that he had fallen off track.

I believe God asks us the very same question.  It causes us to see that we have ducked into the bushes of our own self interests and stepped off of the path that leads to God's best interest for our life and future.  Let's be bold enough to admit when we have gotten off track so that God can recover our missteps, because your destiny is waiting.  Where are you?

"I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

~Jeremiah 29:11
